Surfing PNG! |

Tired
of the same old scene? Tired of the 100’s of other kiters
sailors and surfers overcrowding your favourite kiting spot?
tired of the cold water and lack of wind? Take a break and
head north to Papua New Guinea. Where you will be greeted
by consistent 18-25knots, kilometres of untouched reef breaks
for the wave riders and blue lagoons for the flat water specialists.

You
would expect the exotic location, the prime surf breaks or the
warm water to be the main attraction but they all take second
place to the Larubada trade wind. The Larubada kicks in from
late May through to November blowing 18+ knots all day and night.

Sero
Beach: a 15 min drive from down town Port Moresby, offers
easy access to a great surf break and has great facilities
for a full day of sailing and surfing. There is a large
shallow lagoon off the beach, which leads out to the reef
break, 500 metres out.

Daugo
Island: 20 min Speed boat trip out of Port Moresby. Presents
Kites with the best local conditions. Off the beach and over
the reef there is plenty of space for those looking for flatwater
fun and wave riding. |

The
local Kite crew have only scratched the surface of potential
kite locations and are busy searching for more great spots
to fly. In the near future we will scout out Hula, 2 hours
drive down the coast from Port Moresby. A large flat peninsula
that juts out into the ocean, receiving the full force of
the larubada Trade wind. Beach breaks on one side, side shore
reef breaks on the point and flat water in the sheltered bay. |
